What is a Do Tank?
A Do Tank is a few impactful steps beyond a Think Tank. It’s not just thinking, but doing. The Field Innovation Team (FIT) will conduct the Do Tank in workshop format, challenging a cross-section of talented people to collaborate and innovate cutting-edge disaster response solutions. The Do Tank workshop will be geared toward United Nations representatives, policymakers, and innovators working in the humanitarian space. FIT is a 501(c) not-for-profit organization that empowers creation of cutting-edge disaster solutions for use in humanitarian crises, including through use of robotics. For example, FIT successfully used drones and LIDAR imagery with a team including Texas A&M and private drone operators during severe mudslides that occurred in Washington State. The FIT team also works to enhance disaster preparedness and risk reduction at local, state, national, and international levels. Outcomes will include enhanced coordination of disaster relief; education of a wide spectrum of the public on humanitarian drone response; and promotion of the United Nations’ code of conduct on humanitarian uses of drones. Findings will be included in a visual After Action Report (AAR) that participants can use in their future efforts to further humanitarian solutions through UAS technology.
Join Us
The Do Tank Workshop is limited to 60 invited participants, but ALL ARE WELCOME to the Reception on Day 1, and the extensive afternoon UAV Demonstration on Day 2. The entire event is expected to be the focus of substantial national and international interest.
The event will occur through donations from supporters who can envision the value of innovation in disaster response.
