"The Sacrifice", a new musical adaption of the ancient story of Abraham and Isaac, written by Jane Sbarra, will be presented at the Church of the Advent in Cape May on Saturday, September 20 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, September 21 at 4 p.m. Inspired by James Goodman's book, "But Where Is the Lamb?" and a sermon by Robert Reader, this presentation includes Abraham's wife, Sarah, who is not in the original Bible story. Abraham's obedience to God's command to sacrifice his son is challenged by Sarah's horror and anguish. This powerful struggle reveals Abraham's own pain made more intense by Isaac's innocence and eagerness to accompany his father to the sacrifice, not knowing that he is the "lamb". The part of Abraham will be sung by John McGraw, Sarah by Koren Gowgill, God's messengers by Charlie Buckley and Karen Buckley and Isaac by Erik Wagner. Carol Obligado will accompany the singers. A free will offering will be taken. Please call the church at 884-3065 for more information.
