This summer we celebrated 100 years of women’s right to vote, resulting from the passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Why did acceptance of women’s suffrage take so long? What was the impact of the Abolition and Temperance movements on women’s suffrage? Who were the suffrage leaders in Cape May County? Were men on board with it? Cape May County Clerk Rita Marie Fulginiti will present “The Vote is our Voice: Cape May County Women and Suffrage” on Thursday, October 8 at 3pm. Researched from public records, Mrs. Fulginiti’s talk focuses on Cape May County and the suffrage movement.
